29th
Annual Diocesan Convention began with Eucharist
The 29th Annual Convention of the Diocese of Western Louisiana was convened
Friday afternoon, October 10 in Alexandria, LA. The first event of Convention
was the Convention Eucharist held at The Cathedral of St. Francis Xavier (Roman
Catholic).
The site of the Eucharist was graciously made available by Bishop Ronald Herzog of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Alexandria, with St. Francis Xavier pastor, Father James Ferguson and his parishioners extending hospitality. The Rt. Rev'd D. Bruce MacPherson, D.D., Bishop of Western Louisiana was the celebrant and preacher.
The Offertory was sung
by the Ascension Episcopal School Choir of Lafayette under co-directors Doylene
Poimbeouf and Russell Roden. A group of 35 sixth-,seventh-, and
eighth-grade
students, the choir presented two selections, the last being the popular old
standard, Amazing Grace. Accompanying his fellow choristers on the
keyboard during Amazing Grace was choir member Kieran McIntosh.
